Horizons is looking for a motivated professional engineer with significant design and permitting experience related to water and sewer infrastructure projects and commercial site design. The ideal candidate would have extensive infrastructure design experience, including water source, treatment, storage, and distribution, and wastewater collection, treatment, and discharge. A strong background in road and drainage design, and thorough knowledge of northern New England state regulations is also desirable. Land Surveying Office Technician
Horizons Engineering is seeking a part-time CAD Technician with surveying capabilities for its Newport, Vermont office. The successful candidate should demonstrate the following abilities:
Proficiency with Civil 3D or related software.
Ability to generate two-dimensional survey plats, existing conditions plans, septic design base plans etc. from field point data and survey computations.
Firm understanding of survey coordinate geometry functions, data collector software/interface, point transformations and conversions and error analysis. Knowledge of State Plane and other coordinate system projections, imagery and integration of GIS data.
Ability to create three-dimensional surfaces (TIN’s), contours and other elevation products from survey data.
Ability to adhere to and incorporate Horizons CAD standards for quality and presentation of plans.
Basic understanding of the elements of a Vermont survey plat, boundary analysis and Land Surveyor rules and standards.
General proficiency with land records research and title chains. Ability to determine abutting land owners and organize research.
Office skills to include Microsoft Word and clerical/customer service skills. Good presentation and professional attitude.
Ability to work as part of a survey field crew, or individually using GPS or robotic instrumentation (training will be provided for specific equipment and software).
Physically fit, with a valid driver’s license and ability to work in all weather conditions.
This is primarily an office position, with the potential of field surveying duties as workload permits.
