For many years the Whitefield Water Department experienced significant operational challenges related to the water distribution network, including regular leaks and inadequate pump station facilities. In 2013, Horizons assisted the Town of Whitefield in obtaining a USDA planning grant to complete a water system Preliminary Engineering Report. We then updated this report in 2016 and prepared a USDA funding application for ~$6.5M in water system improvements, and helped the community secure a $500,000 CDBG program grant for a new booster station. Horizons also assisted the Town in obtaining an additional $3.4M grant for water main replacement through the Drinking Water and Groundwater Trust Fund.

To date, Horizons has completed design, permitting, and construction services for the construction of over 14,000 linear feet of water main and three pump stations. Work on the project is ongoing, with an additional 15,000 linear feet of water main designed and permitted and constructed during the 2020 & 2021 construction seasons. Much of the 29,000 liner feet of watermain was within NHDOT Right of Way as well as several active Railroad Crossings.
