Our Utility Location and Subsurface Characterization can provide services for a wide variety of clients using a combination of radio frequency, ground-penetrating radar, and direct excavation methods.

Utility Location

Horizons has the capability to locate the approximate depth and location of a wide variety of subsurface utilities that may include:

• Power
• Telephone/Data
• Water
• Sewer
• Drainage
• Natural Gas/Propane
• Steam/Hot Water/Condensate
• Liquid Fuel (fuel oil, diesel, gasoline)

Subsurface Characterization

Our ground penetrating radar unit has the ability to locate buried anomalies up to a depth of approximately 30 feet, depending on site conditions, that feature radar velocity contrasts.  Such anomalies may include:

• Fuel Tanks
• Septic Tanks
• Grease Traps
• Oil/Water Separators
• Vaults
• Drums
• Bedrock/Boulders
• Foundations and concrete structures
• Solid Waste
• Other buried anomalies with velocity contrasts

In cases where anomalies are identified, Horizons can provide a qualified site work contractor to excavate target anomalies for further assessment.
